I took my girlfriend to an improv show the other night and during intermission we were passionately arguing over whether half a 5 Hour Energy shot would give you 2.5 hours of energy or 5 hours of half-assed energy so we turned around to ask the opinions of the three people behind us and one of them said “Are all your arguments like this because we heard you in the lobby earlier fighting over the right way to pronounce ‘egg’?”

The fact that Evangeline Lilly is playing a character named Hope Van Dyne—the daughter of Janet Van Dyne—is enough to get mad about. Unless you really think that an 80 year old Janet Van Dyne is going to join the Avengers as the Wasp?
The Wasp, an incredibly important character and a crucial member of the Avengers, has been relegated to being a possibly unseen side character in “Ant-Man,” one that can’t fulfill the same vital role in the MCU that she fills in the comics. That much is true, and it’s enough to be bummed about.
And yeah, it’s entirely possible that Hope will become the Wasp. I’d actually bet good money that that will happen. But it’s not the same; it’s a trope, and a very depressing one.
